The Largo da Ajuda, located on a natural platform facing south, is bordered to the west by the Palácio da Ajuda and to the east by the urban front where this land is located. Despite the generous size of the square and the large number of trees, there is a visual connection between the built front and the Palace, which accentuates the difference in scale between the two.

It is a plot of land with 3 fronts onto the public road, which ends with the built front consisting of a group of small one or two-storey houses, in plastered masonry, stone masonry in the frames of the openings and tiled roofs.

The location of this building is thus marked by essential and disparate factors: the physical and visual proximity to the Ajuda Palace, the closure of a small-scale domestic urban front, the proximity of the two mansions at the top of Rua do Guarda-Jóias and the close physical and visual relationship with the recent buildings on the slope of Rio Seco.

The program consists of two independent houses, with shared parking, with a total area of 730 m2.

In volumetric terms, the two houses are set apart from each other, occupying the two ends of the lot and freeing up a patio area between them.

The two houses have a very similar typology and function: a basement parking floor with an entrance via Páteo do Seabra; the living rooms and kitchen directly open onto the garden, a floor with 4 bedrooms above the living rooms and on the top floor the attic, from where you can enjoy views over the River Tagus and the Ajuda Palace.

The elevations of the various fronts of the lot establish different language relationships with the buildings that are close to them, as in the case of the roofs, but the building complex preserves its unity through the materials and windows, which maintain the dimensions in the various situations.
